Introduction

Worldwide, distance running events have established themselves as fund raising platforms for various causes. Marathons are a wonderful trigger to do your bit for charity, since it symbolizes community spirit, melts all barriers and provides a unique platform for fund raising to support the less fortunate.

Started in 2014, Tata Steel Kolkata 25K (TSK25K) has grown to be an internationally recognized 25K which has received the IAAF Silver Label. Promoted by Procam International Pvt Ltd, this event has 5 mainstays that it focuses on:

  • Boost to Indian athletes
  • International pride to host city
  • Health and fitness
  • Communal harmony
  • Philanthropy paradigm

Some Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) use this event as a platform to raise awareness for the work they undertake, and some to raise amounts for their charitable activities. Each Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) is empowered under the supervision of India Cares Foundation - the event’s official Philanthropy Partner, thus reaching out to various corporate and citizens of India.

The Tata Steel Kolkata 25K (TSK25K) creates an impartial environment where Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) with varied bandwidths, across various cause categories, can all raise funds using TSK25K as a platform. This is also a platform for individuals and companies to actively support and contribute towards a cause/Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of their choosing.

In order to enable fundraising at the back of TSK25K, India Cares Foundation and Procam International formulate a Philanthropy Structure which guides all – Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), individuals and companies – in their fundraising endeavors.

The Philanthropy Pillar of TSK25K 2019 is guided on the following principles:

  • Cause agnostic
  • Empowering
  • A self-sustaining model
  • Transparency & Accountability

The Tata Steel Kolkata 25K is one of the few races in the world to publish a document which revealing the total funds raised at an Event’s edition, the participating Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and the funds raised by each, names & profiling the individuals raising substantial amount of funds, listing of companies who have chosen to contribute towards Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and participate in the Event. This corroborates the principle of ‘transparency’ which immensely supports the credibility of the platform.
