Winner medals will be presented to (basis the prize money structure of the 25K elite),

  • Top 3 overall men and women finishers
  • Top 3 Indian men and women finishers

 

Merit Certificate

All finishers falling within the prize money structure will receive merit certificates certifying their prize money winning positions.

 

Timing Certificate

Timing Certificates of 25K elite finishers will be available for download from the event website within 7 working days after receiving final doping test results.

    1. Race results announced on race day will be ‘provisional’. Final results and entitlement to prize money shall be subject to the rules mentioned herein and the Race Regulations.
  • Only those 25K runners confirmed by the Event Promoter as elite starting their race at the official 25K elite start time on Sunday, 18th December 2022 will be entitled to be considered for prize money given in Chart A and B, and bonus earnings given in Chart C of the prize money structure, where applicable.
  • A confirmed 25K elite runner starting his/her race at any start time other the official 25K elite start time shall be disqualified from the Event. 
  • An Elite runner, Indian or international, who is one of the top overall 25K finishers, will be entitled to prize money stated in Chart A. The first 6 Indian elite 25K finishers who do not finish in the top overall 25K finishers, will be entitled to prize money in Chart B. However, where an Indian Elite runner finishes as one of the top overall 25K finishers, he/she will receive prize money stated either in Chart A or Chart B, whichever is higher. 
  • In the instance of an Indian elite availing of the higher prize money amount from Chart B, there will be no change in the overall finishing position of the said Indian elite runner; the overall finishing positions remain the same.
  • Finish positions of the elite 25K runners shall be basis gun time only. 
    1. 25K Event Record Bonus and Jackpot:
      1. Bonus for overall elite 25K winner [Chart C(i)] – The event record bonus will be for the overall 25K elite winner finishing sub 1:13:05s (Men, 1:13:04s or faster) / sub 1:22:08s (Women, 1:22:07s or faster).
      2. Bonus for Indian elite 25K winner [Chart C(ii)] – The bonus amount will be for the Indian elite 25K winner finishing sub 1:15:17s (Men, 1:15:16s or faster) / sub 1:26:53s (Women, 1:26:52s or faster). 
      3. The above 25K event record bonus and jackpot is eligible only for the elite 25K runners.
    2. Elite athletes must cross the start line within 30 seconds of gun start time to be eligible for timings, rankings and thereby prize money.
    3. In addition to the above, entitlement to finish positions and prize money winnings are also subject to–
      1. Bib tag timing captured across all timing points on the course, including at the start and finish mats, 
      2. Physical verification by technical officials and anti-cheat cameras, and  
      3. Dope test results (applicable only for relevant elite 25K finishers). 
    4. An elite 25K athlete refusing, for reasons whatsoever, to undergo dope testing (where chosen) will be disqualified from this Event and shall not be allowed to participate in the subsequent two editions of the Event. His/her finish position at the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K 2022 and consequent prize money entitlement shall stand disqualified and forfeited.
    5. Athletes found to have interchanged their running number bib and/or bib tag with others, will be disqualified from the competition. Such athletes shall not be entitled to any timing or prize money (where applicable).
    6. Prize winners declared may be required to submit further proof of identity/age, as may be required by the Event Promoter, for disbursement of prize money, failing which the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, withhold disbursement or disqualify the said participant from competition.
    7. Prize money and bonus winnings are subject to applicable Indian Income Tax Rules, and the same would be borne by the winner. 
    8. Indian Elite runners entitled to prize money given in Chart A, will receive prize money equivalent in Indian Rupees calculated at the applicable exchange rate as on date of disbursement. 
  • Protests and Appeals:
    1. The athlete and/or his/her representative can appeal to the Race Referee in relation to the official race results declared, in writing, within 30 minutes of the official announcement of the results on race day. Results will be put up at the elite athlete tent. 
    2. The protest letter needs to be submitted at the Elite Result Appeals Desk outside the men elite athlete tent. 
    3. Where the Race Referee makes a decision, the athlete and/or the representative has the right to appeal to the Jury of Appeal. An appeal to the Jury of Appeal must be made at the Elite Result Appeals Desk within 30 minutes – (i) of the official announcement of the amended result which has been arrived at from the decision by the Race Referee, or (ii) of informing the person lodging the protest that the results will not be amended. 
    4. The Jury of Appeal shall deliver its decision within 14 working days of filing the appeal. The decision of the Jury of Appeal shall be final and there shall be no further right of appeal.
    5. The Protests and Appeals for the elite races will be guided by rules given in this document, and the World Athletics Competition Rules in force on race day (i.e. 18th December 2022).

1. Leonard Barsoton KEN/1994
Leonard made name by winning two silver medals in World Cross and an African Cross title. In recent years he switched to the roads proving to do well by lowering his PB to 59:09 in Valencia in 2019, clocking the 10th fastest time of 2019. In 2020 he represented Kenya at the World Championships Half Marathon in Gdynia, where he finished in 6th position. Only 2 seconds behind 5th placer Andamlak Belihu.

2. Victor Kiplangat UGA/1999
The reigning Commonwealth Champion in the marathon after his victory in Birmingham in July 2022. Before that he made his debut on the marathon distance in Hamburg clocking 2:05:09 making him the second fastest Ugandan ever behind teammate Stephen Kissa. As a youngster from a mountain running background he won the World Mountain running junior title and also on senior level won medals there. After that he joined the GSC in Kapchorwa (Uganda) to train with Joshua Cheptegei among others and started improving on his 63’ half marathon PB, currently 59:26 set in Delhi 2020.

Andamlak, knows the roads of India and especially Delhi very well. The 2018 and 2019 Airtel Delhi Half Marathon champion is in a Procam race for the 7th time in his career. In 2020 he ran the 3rd fastest time ever in Delhi finishing 2nd in 58:54. He trains under coach Gemedu Dedefo in a very successful group. Andamlak came to the international running scene impressing with stellar performances and was the only one who managed to keep up with Kipchoge in Berlin, eventually finishing 4th in a 2:06:40PB.

He is young but already a multiple national champion who has performed very well at high level in Djibouti where raceconditions are usually very hot and humid. In Djibvout Half Marathon he was 3rd behind Mo Farah and Bashir Abdi.

Abrar Osman made his first international appearance at the Youth Olympic Games where he won the 3000m race. Followed by a gold medal at the 2011 World Youth Championships in France and a silver medal at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona in 2012. In the following year, Abrar combined track with shorter road races and competed at various World Championships and Olympic Games. His first half marathon outing came in 2015, in Delhi. Abrar moved training bases in 2019, he decided to train in Kenya fulltime and he joined the training group of Eliud Kipchoge and Geoffrey Kamworor. This decision payed off and a he made a strong marathon debut in Amsterdam in 2019.

Desi Jisa lives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and trains with Ashete Bekere (among others). She represents Bahrain and has performed well internationally with a 7th place at the world half marathon championships in 2018 in Valencia and 8th at the world cross country champions in Qingzhen, China in 2015. She was 2nd in the last edition of Kolkata 25k. After that race covid struck and Desi had a child. In May 2022 she made her comeback to international racing with a 6th place at the military games in Lima, Peru
